Auburn Avenue District

Atlanta, Georgia
2 mile stretch

With its central downtown location, Auburn Avenue is a historic corridor that once served as the epicenter of commercial, cultural, and spiritual African American life in Atlanta. This corridor even includes the birth home of Martin Luther King, Jr.  We were tasked with calling out and celebrating this area’s rich history as its resurgence continues to evolve.

Upon our engagement with Central Atlanta Progress, we developed identification and interpretive signage broken out by sub-districts, each uniquely steeped in cultural heritage. We sought to design bold and festive forms that would resonate with community visitors while simultaneously acknowledging the area’s abundant Civil Rights Movement history.

Vibrant installations protected with anti-graffiti measure serve as engaging and respectful canvases that honor Auburn Avenue’s history and captivate Atlanta’s locals and newcomers alike.
