When providing design services on a historical building, one must proceed with the utmost care to first ‘do no harm’ and secondly honor the building’s past.

Cannery Hall began as a canning facility back in 1883, but has served one of Nashville’s coolest live music venues since the 1980s. sky design created a wide range of signage and wayfinding starting with large exterior signs identifying the venue on the side and the front of the building, and then directionals consisting of plaques and designs applied as paint, and finally banners that help concert-goers head in the right direction.

All of our signage solutions complement their industrial settings, using chalky white paint and stark black metal installations, adding to the building’s current relevance and its local legacy.
